Should I change money before I go?
It’s up to you whether or not you change money before you go, but you may get a better exchange rate if you do. Another option is to withdraw money from an ATM once in England. There are lots of ATMs available throughout the country, although your bank may charge international withdrawal fees. Most places in England also accept international bank cards.
How much should I budget per day for extras?
It’s up to you how much money you budget for each day as you know your spending habits better than we do. For reference, an average meal price in England is around £20 and an average alcoholic drink at a bar costs around £5-7.
Is it customary to tip?
A tip of around £5-10 per day for the Pack Leader would be appreciated but is not compulsory. Many Flashpackers choose to keep a kitty and give this to the Pack Leader at the end of their trip.
In bars and restaurants, tipping around 10% is average, but this varies depending on the level of service you have received.
