Should I change money before I go?
It is best to change your money before you leave in order to secure a good rate, however it will be possible to change your money locally either at the airport or Cape Town. Do let the pack leader know if you would like help with this.
How much should I budget per day for extras?
South Africa isn’t as cheap as other African countries or some Asian countries. Around £30 - £50 a day should be plenty, but this is guidance only as you know your spending patterns better than we do.
Is it customary to tip?
For everyday life, we recommend between £4-8 a day which you can give to your guide to distribute equally. Then for your guide and driver, it is customary, though not compulsory to tip them around £3-6 a day, this would normally be given at the end of the adventure and is completely up to you and whether you feel they have earnt it. For restaurants and bars giving a 10% tip is fairly normal in South Africa.
