Should I change money before I go?
You may want to change a small amount of money before you arrive, but it’s not advisable to carry large sums of money with you around Rio. Major credit cards are widely accepted in Brazil (not all places will accept Amex) and there are ATM’s available.
How much should I budget per day for extras?
Around £35 - £50 a day should be plenty, but this is guidance only as you know your spending patterns better than we do.
Is it customary to tip?
If you found the service good it’s customary, but not mandatory to tip around 10%. Normally in bars and restaurants they will apply an optional +10% fee, for taxi drivers or ubers, or other services 10% is also welcome.
For Flash Pack drivers we recommend to tip £3 -5 per day and Flash Pack leader £5 - 8 per day. Tips are not compulsory and is entirely at your own discretion.
