Will I have to pay a 'tourism tax' at each hotel?
In Borneo, all foreign tourists are required to pay a ‘tourism tax’ at every hotel that they stay. This must be paid in person by each traveler; therefore, we are not able to pay this on your behalf. The tax total for this trip will be MYR 100 per room (roughly 24 USD). If you are in a single room, you will need to pay this amount, but if you are in a twin room the total will be MYR 50 per person.
Below is a summary of the total tax per room for each hotel:
MYR 30 for 3 nights stay at The Waterfront Hotel in Kuching
MYR 20 for 2 nights stay at Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa
MYR 10 for a 1 night stay at Jesselton Hotel
MYR 20 for 2 nights stay at Abai Jungle Lodge
MYR 20 for 2 nights stay at Shangri-la Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa

Yes, in the city hotels there will be hairdryers.
Will I be able to do laundry?
It will be possible to do laundry at the city hotels, they may charge an extra fee for this service. Alternatively there are a number of laundries located near hotels in Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.
Will the hotels have toiletries?
All the city hotels provide toiletries. The jungle lodges do not have any toiletries so you should aim to bring what you’ll need.
Can I have an early check in on the first day since my flight lands early?
Regular check in is usually at 2:00pm. If you arrive early our hotels will try and check you in subject to availability on the day, if it’s not possible, you can leave your luggage with reception and explore Kuching while you wait.
Can I continue using the hotel facilities after check out on the last day since my flight departs in the evening?
Check out is at 12:00. You will be able to store your luggage with reception until you leave for your flight, and you can continue to use the communal hotel facilities.
Is there wifi at the hotels?
All the hotels in the town areas will have wifi. However, outside of the town (in the jungle lodges) there is no internet access so you will be able to have a digital detox.
