What time do the activities start on each day?
This will depend on the itinerary for the day, but generally after breakfast. Your guide will decide the exact time based on their experience.
How long is each activity?
This may vary according to the activity, however, the Tineri app will give you a rough idea of how long each activity is and your guide is there to advise locally.
In regards to how the trip runs overall, is it fast paced? In other words, will we have time to rest from time to time throughout the day?
The trip is not fast paced and there will be ample time to relax and chill and enjoy the surroundings.
Do I need hiking boots?
Comfortable trail shoes or sturdy trainers that you don’t mind getting muddy and wet in jungle streams. The walking is along jungle trails so having a shoe with a good grip is necessary. It is also useful to have a pair of rubber slippers or flip-flops to wear when the shoes are wet.
What clothing is recommended for the treks?
Light-weight cotton and/or easy to dry clothing. It is hot and humid and you will sweat a lot. Clothes that can be rinsed and hung and will dry would be the best. Long sleeves are useful for time spent in open boats or in the evening to prevent mosquito bites. Shorts are ok for the treks, but long trousers will protect from insect bites.
Do I need to wear insect repellent on the treks?
Insects are usually not a problem on the treks, and repellent tends to wash away from sweat or water. Around the jungle camps, repellent is good to keep mosquitos and sandflies at bay.
Will there be mosquito nets provided in the jungle camp?
Are there any risks of poisonous bites/stings?
There are scorpions and centipedes, but these are generally only found on the forest floor or where there are piles of dead wood (and lots of food for the critter). Wasps and hornets are also found throughout the tropics and are no more or less annoying than anywhere else.
I’ve never been kayaking before, will there be a guide?
The kayaking trip is suitable for beginners and is an enjoyable, scenic float down a local river. You will be with a guide throughout and the guides will be checking to see how you cope.
In regards to the kayaking, what skill level is required?
The kayaking is very easy to cater to any skill level. This is more of a float trip along a rainforest river with stops at local communities.
In regards to caving, what skill level or physical abilities are necessary?
The show caves only require the ability to walk for 2-3 km. There are a couple of sections with staircases, but there is no race. The adventure caving does not require specific rope or technical skills. These caves are ‘off-piste’ and do not follow a walkway, thus care is required for where you walk.
