Which location is best for buying gifts and souvenirs?
There are great souvenirs and local delicacies to buy everywhere in Japan and Tokyo and Kyoto offer everything you could want. Don Quijote, a local brand, sells all things weird and wonderful from Japanese toys, sweets, delicacies and clothing at reasonable prices. The areas around main tourist attractions are typically more expensive. If you are looking for something specific, e.g. electronics and gadgets, Akhibara in Tokyo would be the best place. All the big cities will have shopping hubs like, Shibuya and Shinjinku, where all global and local brands are on offer in huge shopping complexes such as Isetan. More details on the best places to shop will be provided in your pre-trip app.
