What's the weather like? General overview but also please detail for each month of the year
Spring (March to May)
The temperature is warm, but not too hot, with minimal rain. The famous cherry blossoms are blooming during this time and there are plenty of festivals to enjoy. Despite being sunny during the day it can still turn quite chilly at night.
Summer (June to August)
In June, Japan experiences a three to four-week rainy season with often short but heavy bursts of rain. Typhoon season is underway in July. It is hot and humid through the end of August. Temperatures are often in the high 30’s.
Autumn (September to November)
The blazing summer temperatures begin to cool in September. Expect cooler temperatures of around 8-20oC. Typhoon season typically ends in October. If you’re lucky, you’ll have a chance to see the fall leaves change colors!
Winter (December to February)
It is quite dry, cold but sunny along the Pacific coast and the temperatures rarely drop below 0°C. Southern Japan is relatively temperate and experiences a mild winter however it can get cold and some occasional snowfall can occur. In the mountains and other Northern regions it can become very cold with heavy snowfall.
