What is the local currency?
The local currency is the Canadian dollar (CAD). Banknotes come in denominations of $5, $10, $20 and $50.
Should I change money before I go?
Credit cards are widely accepted in Canada so there is no need to carry large sums of cash in the local currency. There will be ATM’s throughout the places our trip visits.
How much should I budget per day for extras?
Around $100 a day should be plenty, but this is guidance only as you know your spending patterns better than we do and depends on what optional activities you undertake.
Is it customary to tip?
Yes, it is customary to tip in Canada. The standard is 15 % of your bill for drinks, food and taxis, although you don’t have to tip for the meals and drinks already included in the trip.
Then for your Pack Leader and driver, it is customary, though not compulsory, to tip them around $5 a day, this would normally be given at the end of the adventure and is completely up to you whether you feel they have earnt it.
