What's the weather like?
Summer (May, June, July, August, September)
The summer temperatures on Morocco can be intense, when the temperatures in Marrakech soar into the high 40s. Shade can be non-existent once you are trekking in the high mountains, so make sure to protect yourself from the strong African sun but naturally it is slightly cooler up in the Atlas mountains.
As soon as the sun starts to set the temperature becomes considerably cooler, so make sure to have warm layers and an insulated jacket.
Winter (December, January, February)
Toubkal winter conditions can be just as severe. When it’s very clear and dry the temperatures on the summit can easily plummet to -20°C even at midday.
In perfect winter condition you will enjoy clear, cold crisp days, and nights with temperatures dropping well below freezing. The first snows often come in late October or early November, but some years can see little snow cover up to December.
