What time do the activities start on each day?
This will depend on the itinerary for the day, but usually we will leave around 9am.
How long is each activity?
It depends on the activity, the weather, the traffic and other factors. Your pack leader will be able to give you a good idea of how long each activity is.
I don’t know how to ride a bike, is there an alternative activity?
No, but it is a lovely place to just explore by foot and sometimes we have special bikes that can be ridden by one of the guides which you can jump on.
Is there an organised yoga class I can take in El Nido?
There is not one in the itinerary but there will likely be classes or instructors in the town which can it ought to be possible to book locally.
What facilities does the private boat have?
The boat has a very basic toilet at the back, a roof deck for sunbathing and relaxation, and an area to store bags and supplies.
The boat is built in the traditional Filipino style and it is important that you bring your own sun and rain protection with you as their indoor areas are limited.
Do I need to bring my own snorkelling kit?
No, a snorkelling kit will be provided. However, if you need prescription masks then please bring your own.
Do I need to bring my own flippers?
No. We will be asking for your shoe size before your arrival.
Do I need to bring my own towel?
No. We will provide towels but some people still like to bring their own too for the beach.
I get seasick, is this trip for me?
The trip does involve sea transfers and island hopping but if you still wish to join, you would need to take the necessary precautions, i.e. motion-sickness tablets.
Do I need to bring a sleeping bag for camping?
No. We will provide a small cushion with pillow and a thin blanket but if you are a light sleeper you may want to bring ear plugs and an eye mask.
What kit do I need to bring camping?
It is important to bring a torch and power banks to charge your gadgets.
Are there toilets and showers near the tents?
Yes. The amenities are basic and simple. We have two rooms for bucket flush toilet and an outdoor bucket shower.
But we are sleeping on a remote island in the middle of a stunning archipelago and the beauty is that we are miles away from civilisation and therefore any sort of normal modern amenities are limited. This will be an adventure and it will not be for everyone.
Are the tents shared?
Each Flashpacker will have their own tent.
Do the tents provide mosquito nets?
Yes. The tent is mesh-type. It functions as a mosquito net too.
What insects/animals can be found on the beach where we are camping?
We are on a remote secret island, and there will be insects and other animals. They should not be able to get into your tent but if you are worried about this, it may not be the adventure for you.
Is there phone reception or wifi on the private island?
None. If there is, it would be weak. This is the time for digital detoxification and conversations with your group!
What if I get ill on the private island?
It depends on the situation. If we need to take you back to El Nido, we will arrange through our local partner. The Pack Leader will coordinate on your behalf.
What is there to do during the free time in El Nido?
There is lots to do which your pack leader and the hotel can help you organise. Alternatively, you can explore some the local beaches, bars or just relax by the pool.
Do I need a driving license to go on a quad bike?
Can I take photos at the Tarsier sanctuary?
Yes but you need to keep distance and no flash photography.
I’ve never been on a paddle board, will there be an instructor?
Yes. Our instructors are experienced staff who will demonstrate the basics, it is quite easy to learn.
Is there an alternative to paddle boarding?
No, but it is so much fun we would really recommend you come and join in on the fun.
Can you organise a snorkelling trip to see whale sharks?
No. The nearest whale shark spot is Oslob in Cebu and we do not support this project because we believe it is not sustainable and responsible in ensuring that it does not deviate the whale sharks from their normal feeding pattern.
Who do I organise trips to Balicasag or Virgin island with?
You can arrange this with the hotel or through one of the operators at Alona Beach.
