What fitness levels do I need for this trip?
Most activities will not require a high fitness level, however, the glacier hike is rated as “moderate” so a degree of fitness will be required. If you can climb a flight of stairs without worry, you’re unlikely to have any problems. Please contact one of our friendly Trip Experts for more information if you’re unsure whether this is the adventure for you.
Do I need to be able to swim or ride a bike?
The Blue Lagoon is shallow and you will be able to walk into the water, but it’s up to you whether you take part in this activity.
If you would like more information on the Blue Lagoon, please contact one of our friendly trip advisors.
If I cannot ride a bike/swim what can I do whilst the others ride/swim?
The Blue Lagoon is a majestic sight! If you’re not entering the water, we would recommend that you enjoy the incredible natural beauty of the lagoon from the water’s edge. It’s a fantastic photo opportunity.
How long is each of the treks?
Your glacier hike will take between 3 and 3.5 hours, including preparation and gearing down. You’ll kick off with a scenic 30-minute walk to the glacier tongue. You’ll then spend between 1 and 1.5 hours on the glacier, followed by a 30-minute walk back.
In total, the hike is 3 kilometres, but this can be increased depending on the group’s fitness levels and the condition of the glacier.
