What should I pack?
We recommend that you pack warm clothes for the highlands of Cusco, light clothes for Lima and Puerto Maldonado and a waterproof jacket just in case. The key to packing for Peru is to bring layers because the weather can change very quickly. You’ll receive a more detailed list of packing suggestions in the Tineri app before your trip.
What items do I need to purchase that are not part of an everyday wardrobe?
You’ll certainly need a comfortable pair of trekking shoes. It’s also a great idea to bring a cap, gloves, some sunglasses and insect repellant for the Amazon.
Before you travel, we’ll make sure that you have a full packing list available on the Tineri app.
What’s the luggage allowance?
For the domestic flight, you’ll be able to bring one large bag weighing up to 23KG, along with hand luggage weighing up to 6KG.
During your stay at the Amazonas Lodge, you’ll be able to bring one bag but your suitcase will be securely stored in Puerto Maldonado City, due to the remote location of the lodge.
Can I bring a suitcase or do I need a backpack?
A backpack is recommended when staying at the jungle lodge and when travelling on the Machu Picchu trains. When you’re in the jungle, your large bags will remain securely stored at the lodge’s office in Puerto Maldonado.
We also recommend bringing a 20-30L day bag for the Rainbow Mountain hike. You’ll need to pack multiple layers as the weather can change in the mountains.
What plugs are used, do I need to bring a travel adaptor?
Generally, plugs in Peru are the same as in most of Europe. They have two round prongs and the standard voltage is 220 V with a frequency of 60 Hz. You will need to bring an adapter with you if you’re travelling from a country that doesn’t use this plug type.
What shoes should I wear for the treks?
You should bring trekking shoes with you for the trekking on this trip. We advise that you wear these in before you start hiking, the views are more enjoyable without blisters!
What clothing is recommended for the treks?
We recommend that you wear light, long trousers, and a t-shirt. It’s also a good idea to ensure that you have a rain jacket or poncho as you could be exposed to the elements.
What do I need to carry with me on the treks?
You’ll need to carry hiking poles with you along the trek and you’ll probably want to bring a camera to help you remember the stunning views! In your bag, we’d recommend keeping a water bottle, insect repellant, sun cream, any medication you require and some snacks.
