What is the difficulty level of the Rainbow Mountain trek?
The trekking up Rainbow Mountain can be strenuous at times, especially with the high altitude, but it is considered a moderate hike. Most active people with a reasonable level of fitness will not struggle. If you have any queries, please get in touch with one of our trip advisors.
How long is the Rainbow Mountain trek?
The Rainbow Mountain hike will be 13KM at high altitude. You’ll see magical sights along the way and eventually, the panoramic views will take in the famous Rainbow Mountain!
I’ve never experienced high altitudes; will this be a problem?
Some people are able to acclimatise faster to high altitudes than others, so it depends on your body. We recommend that on the first day in Cusco you get plenty of rest and drink lots of water. Your Pack Leader will have more information to help you acclimatise to the altitude.
What if I can't make it to the top of Rainbow Mountain, will someone escort me down?
Yes, as part of the adventure staff, there will be an assistant that will escort you back down if you are unable to continue. As an extra contingency, your group will also travel with porters and a horse or two.
