What is the local currency?
The local currency is the Vietnamese dong (d). The US dollar is also widely accepted throughout the country.
Should I change money before I go?
We recommend changing money before your trip, to secure the best exchange rate. Alternatively, you could change money locally, either at the airport or in a Vietnamese city. Your Pack Leader will be able to help you if you plan on changing money once in Vietnam.
How much should I budget per day for extras?
Although there’s a lot included in your Flash Pack adventure, we recommend that you bring some extra cash for additional meals, drinks and those wonderful Vietnamese massages!
Around £20-40 a day should be fine, but this is guidance only as you know your spending patterns better than we do. If you plan on buying gifts and souvenirs, you’ll need to budget for these too!
Is it customary to tip?
A tip of around 5-10 USD per day for the Pack Leader would be appreciated but is not at all compulsory. Many Flashpackers choose to keep a kitty and give this to the Pack Leader at the end of the trip.
For restaurants and bars, it’s normal to tip around 5%, but this is at your own discretion.
