What's the weather like?
Rwanda is blessed with a warm climate all year around. You can expect temperatures around 24-30°C during the day, and 17-20°C at night.
Short thunderstorms can occur at any time during the year, but they almost always pass within an hour. The main wet seasons are mid-February to mid-May and late August to November, so definitely bring a rain jacket if you’re travelling during these seasons.
Rain is very unlikely in the main dry season from the start of July to mid-August but it can also be hazier due to dust in the air at this time of year. It is often windy on Lake Kivu in July and August.
Is there a contingency plan is any of the activities aren’t possible due to weather?
Changes to the itinerary are rare on this adventure, however, activities could be delayed due to rogue thunderstorms.
The only activity that is likely to be affected is the Mukungwa River Canoe Trip, which could be replaced with a canoe trip on a nearby lake instead.
